There can be exceptions to this. My wife and 25 years and I often go hiking together, but we have different paces (we're different heights). We've learned to walk at our own paces. I wait for her periodically, or we meet up at appointed places and times. When we walk in the woods, we often go one after the other because the path is too narrow. She's the faster walker, and I'm the faster hiker. After all these years, we know each other's styles and are easy with the differences.
