Imma argue with you (and by proxy, Jessica) on this one, Bob. Here in Massachusetts, we have a number of examples of Democrats who are doing the right thing every day. Tram Nguyen, our state rep from the 18th Essex, is on the right side of every issue. She came over from Vietnam as a child, grew up in a working-class neighborhood, was valdictorian at her high school, attended college and law school, and (from Wikipedia) " worked at Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS), where she focused on providing legal representation to survivors of domestic violence in family and immigration law. Nguyen later became a staff attorney at GBLS and then the coordinator for the Civil Legal Assistance for Victims of Crime Project, where she represented and advocated for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and others from vulnerable communities who were victims of crimes. She also led the Nail Salon Initiative, an initiative to help low-wage workers fight wage theft." I canvassed for her to unseat a truly awful Republican who had held that seat for three terms. I did so mainly because she is pro-choice and a supporter of women's issues in general and Planned Parenthood in particular. I'll also cite for you Elizabeth Warren, our national senator, who continues to pull the political argument to the left, and while we're at it, Maura Healy, our attorney general, who, in addition to being openly gay, is also on the right side of every issue (guns, abortion, Trump, etc.). What I think is that Jessica needs to do some travel outside South Carolina to see what's happening elsewhere in the country. There is no way I'm going to stand by and let someone (some Millennial?) say, ah, the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans. The gap between them is as wide as the Grand Canyon ... but maybe not in South Carolina. And that attitude also doesn't account for how the Republicans at the national level consistently sandbag the Democrats when the latter is in power, and then blame them for doing nothing. It's a good parlor trick, but they're not fooling me.
