I’m not buying this. My dad walked out, and all he wanted was to be done with his first (and second) brood. From time to time, he would make lame attempts to patch things up a bit, but was always a dick about it. Finally, I’d had enough and stopped seeing and communicating with him. There was no happy ending, no reconciliation. In his mythology, I was the bad guy. And that was that.
